What is Cancer Support New Zealand?
We provide free, practical and non-medical support for anyone impacted by cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our focus is on helping people manage the physical, emotional, and visible effects of cancer through accessible classes online and in the community, and resources.
Is this support only for people in treatment?
No. Our support is for anyone facing cancer, whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, recovering, living beyond cancer, living with cancer, or supporting a loved one.
What kinds of support do you offer?
We offer practical, hands-on support focused on appearance changes, confidence, wellbeing, and emotional resilience. This includes community-based classes and online sessions.
Is there a cost to attend?
No. All Cancer Support New Zealand services are completely free.
We are very grateful to donors, trusts and grants, and organisations such as Farmers and the Dry July New Zealand Campaign for this support.
Do I need a referral or medical approval to join?
No referral is needed. You can register directly for any class or support service that feels right for you.
Do I need to talk or share in sessions?
Not at all. You’re welcome to simply listen and take part in a way that feels comfortable for you. There is never any pressure to speak or share.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. Support people are welcome, and we encourage you to bring someone along to an online or community class if it helps you feel more comfortable.
Where are your services available?
We offer support across Aotearoa New Zealand through community locations and online sessions, so you can join in a way that suits your situation and energy levels.
Do you accept product donations?
Yes, we are always grateful for bulk donations of new, in-date beauty and self-care products that can support people facing cancer. This includes skincare, nail care, hair care, make-up, and practical items such as wig stands. These donations help us provide gentle, practical support in our classes for people experiencing changes to their skin, hair, and confidence. If you or your business would like to contribute, we’d love to hear from you. You are welcome to contact our Programme Operations Manager to discuss further.
