Every day, 77 people in Aotearoa hear the words “You have cancer.” For each of them, their world tilts. At Cancer Support New Zealand, our purpose is simple yet powerful, to help people feel more like themselves again as they navigate cancer, at every stage, everywhere across the motu.
This year’s Impact Report reflects a time of growth, connection, and deeper impact. With more than 20 free programmes now offered both in person and online, support is available for body, mind, and wairua (spirit). From gentle movement and mindfulness, to appearance and self-care classes, to expert Q&As and podcasts, every session is about more than just tools or techniques. It’s about creating moments of confidence, calm, and community.
The numbers tell one story: over 444 classes delivered, attendance up more than 20%, and participants returning on average three times for ongoing support. But the real impact is personal:
“I suddenly felt included and part of a group that understood.” – Jacqui
“I could put treatment aside for a moment and feel special again.” – Lisa
Thanks to the generosity of partners, donors, and volunteers, every class is free, though it is never cost-free to provide. With your support, we’ll continue to meet growing needs, ensuring that as long as cancer touches lives, practical care, connection, and compassion will be there too.
